3Degrees is a leader in the climate movement, with 300+ employees in 8 offices globally, serving more than 1,800 companies and utilities in their climate journeys.
Launching a new website and brand expression for this global consultancy involved merging our team with their large marketing team and VP to deeply understand their brand, business goals, multiple audiences, service lines, content requirements, and more. The new website brings a fresh and inspiring visual story, a flexible modular digital system customized to their brand and storytelling needs, all with applied industry best practices from SEO to design, UX, and technology.

a fully modular site
A variety of components makes it easy to stay up to date
We designed and co-developed a fully customized, modular, component-based website for 3Degrees that empowers their team to adapt quickly to evolving market demands and customer needs. It’s easy to update and reconfigure content, enabling 3Degrees to deliver targeted messages and dynamic experiences efficiently without overhauling the entire site. This approach ensures their digital presence stays relevant and impactful in a fast-changing industry.

With such a complex story, it was important that we develop key user journeys to map out the simplest way to guide visitors to their desired actions quickly.

Going Deep
Merging our team for a unified approach
By combining 3Degrees’ deep industry knowledge with our strategic and creative work, we were able to collaborate on building a website that not only reflected their brand values but also delivered meaningful, tailored experiences that resonate with their diverse audiences across multiple sectors.
Project Phases
Phase 1: discovery & strategy
A deep discovery and strategy phase to learn about business, brand, and customer goals and develop a strategic blueprint for the new website.
Phase 2: Strategic design direction
Write experience principles and design a new, elevated visual direction for their website.
Phase 3: UX & UI DESIGN
User experience design, wireframes, component and template design, technical specs.
Phase 4: Development
Website design, front- and backend development, technical architecture, testing and QA in partnership with 3Degrees’ in-house developer.

It was important to the client that the site meet high accessibility standards. We developed a custom color palette based on 3Degrees’ brand that increases the contrast.

We designed a typographical strategy for the site with accessibility and legibility in mind.
Thoughtful design and an approachable experience
Every element of the website — information architecture, site design, and user experience — was crafted to position 3Degrees as an expert, human-centered organization. From intuitive navigation to thoughtful design choices, the site balances professionalism with approachability, ensuring users feel welcomed and engaged. By focusing on clarity and accessibility, we created a digital experience that reflects 3Degrees’ commitment to making complex solutions understandable and actionable, reinforcing trust and connection with their audience.

Smith & Connors were outstanding strategic and design partners throughout our website redesign. Their thoughtful and meticulous approach delved deeply into our company’s core values, clarifying our objectives and shaping our brand’s look and feel. The result was a modular system that allowed us to launch a beautiful, clear, and accessible website, perfectly accommodating our diverse services and offerings.

The main goal for the new 3Degrees site was to build and validate leads across their services.
We applied a high level of craft to every element of the site. The site’s buttons reflect a clear hierarchy that users might not notice — but they will feel.

We made it easy for users to find what they are looking for, while also creating a real sense of exploration — 3Degrees does many things, and we want people to discover the full range of services.
The site’s megamenu is a mini website in itself. This gives all visitors a way of entering the story where they want to enter. User pathways are greatly simplified.
3Degrees engaged Smith & Connors when we knew we wanted to take our website down to the studs and completely rebuild it in an audience-centric manner. We have a highly complicated business with numerous audiences, and S&C helped guide us through the entire process — from crafting the upfront strategy, to translating that strategy to a new site architecture and beautiful new design that delivered on that strategy. Their collaboration and partnership throughout this project were critical to its success, and our new site is up and performing really well.
